584 confirmed cases of people infected with coronavirus, including 17 deaths: WHO officials

According to World Health Organization officials, as of Jan. 23, 584 cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been reported to the organization, with 17 of those fatalities in China. This new strain of coronavirus originated in Wuhan, China, an area that WHO officials call “high-risk.”
