An oily substance spilled on William Street created some tense moments for drivers in Cobourg on Tuesday morning. Around 7 a.m., drivers reported all four lanes were extremely slippery along William Street in the area of Health Street. Some vehicles spun sideways while others narrowly avoided a collision while trying to stop at the intersection. Public works crews added bags of absorbing material along the lanes while trying to find the cause of the spill.
