President Trump’s nominee William Barr faced the first day of his confirmation hearing for U.S. Attorney General last Tuesday. California Democratic Senator Kamala Harris pressed Barr on the Voting Rights Act and asked him to vow to root out voter suppression, particularly the suppression of the African American vote, wherever it occurs.
