Preserving Britain’s brick and mortar history

A “Hobbit” house, a taxi shelter and a First World War listening post are among the properties being added to England’s National Heritage List. The listing was set-up 70 years ago to protect historical properties after the war. As Jeff Semple reports, that list now includes everything from palaces to pigsties.
