<p style="text-align:left;">CALGARY – The <a href="http://www.ppcli.com/" target="_blank">Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry</a> (PPCLI) hosted a special memorial baton relay in Calgary on Friday to commemorate 100 years of military service.</p> Those who served in the regiment are taking turns caring the baton as it travels through Calgary. The baton contains the names of 1,866 PPCLI members who have fallen in active service to Canada. The relay is winding its way across Canada, ending with a special ceremony in Ottawa on September 18th. “It’s a key milestone for Canada,” says L. Col Bob Ritchie, Commanding Officer. “I think an opportunity to carry a baton with 1,866 names – and individually remember the sacrifices and accomplishments of the regiment, and more importantly of Canada abroad - is very significant.” There are 56 members of the PPCLI buried in Calgary cemeteries. http://youtu.be/Dl0d908vq-w
