Roméo Dallaire says war in Sudan needs intervention
Description
March 19, 2026
WARNING: Video contains disturbing content: Viewer discretion is advised. The U.N. says the war in Sudan has displaced more than 13 million people and more than 24 million people are facing acute hunger — nearly half the country’s population. The Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces — a powerful paramilitary force — have fought for nearly three years. The question posed to a panel of experts in Toronto on Wednesday: What is the world doing to stop it? Former Canadian Lt-Gen. Roméo Dallaire — who was a UN force commander in Rwanda — says the situation requires military intervention to stop it. Global’s Nathaniel Dove reports.
