SickKids launches burn awareness campaign to help protect children
Description
February 3, 2026
A life-altering burn can happen in seconds, and SickKids is urging parents and caregivers to stay alert. As part of National Burn Awareness Week, the hospital has launched a new campaign focused on preventing childhood burn injuries and helping families recognize when medical care is needed. Dr. Joel Fish, Medical Director of the Burn Program at SickKids, joins Ross Hull to share insight into the most common causes of burns in children, which injuries can be treated at home, and when it’s critical to seek hospital care, plus where to find trusted safety resources.

A life-altering burn can happen in seconds, and SickKids is urging parents and caregivers to stay alert. As part of National Burn Awareness Week, the hospital has launched a new campaign focused on preventing childhood burn injuries and helping families recognize when medical care is needed. Dr. Joel Fish, Medical Director of the Burn Program at SickKids, joins Ross Hull to share insight into the most common causes of burns in children, which injuries can be treated at home, and when it’s critical to seek hospital care, plus where to find trusted safety resources.
