After nearly two decades of negotiations, a sacred Indigenous site in B.C. has officially been returned to Sumas First Nation. The Lightning Rock site was private property before the provincial government purchased it, in order to give it back to the First Nation. Neetu Garcha was at the ceremony which marked a major step in recognizing Indigenous land rights.
