Police say it happened at a residence on Burnham Street in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township.

A witness told OPP the victim had asked for help in downing damaged trees from last week’s ice storm.

Both had experience in tree removal and cleared four or five trees before the last one came down and struck the victim.

OPP say the 78-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed as police investigated.
