The family of Destiny Rennie has filed a lawsuit against Nova Scotia Health, the provincial health authority. They say she was suffering symptoms of meningitis when she first went to the hospital in 2023. The family alleges Rennie was not treated properly, and her treatment was delayed, because she is Indigenous. She died after six days in hospital. Heidi Petracek explains how Rennie’s family is channeling their pain into a push for answers.
