It was a landslide victory for the U.K.’s Labour party, and the Tories’ worst defeat in the party’s nearly 200-year history. But as the new prime minister, Keir Starmer, takes office, the challenges ahead are monumental. U.S. President Joe Biden hit the campaign trail Friday, and his message was loud and clear: “I am running and gonna win again.” But calls for him to drop out of the presidential race aren’t letting up. Plus, in Ontario, thousands of workers with the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) went on strike Friday. The issue at the centre of the job action is Premier Doug Ford’s ambitious plans to make alcohol more accessible throughout Ontario. This is a goal employees say could put their jobs under threat. And in Newfoundland and Labrador, nearly 300 victims who suffered abuse by the Catholic clergy finally know how much the Archdiocese will have to compensate them.
