Halifax mayor cancels New Year’s event, donates to charity instead

An annual New Year’s Day tradition at Halifax’s City Hall won’t be moving forward this year, as the municipality’s mayor has decided to cancel the New Year’s Levee. Mayor Mike Savage said the money that otherwise would fund the event will be donated to charity instead.
