Mike Farnworth said Friday the province had learned from last year's deadly heat dome and has implemented new protocols to issue heat alerts as a heat wave is expected to hit B.C.

On Oct. 1, an error during maintenance on the dam's spillway resulted in a large volume of water being released, killing two people and forcing others to scramble to safety.
