The federal government has refused to provide records showing the scope of its investigation into the Volkswagen emissions-duping scandal in Canada and the Germany automaker is now seeking a legal order to keep those records confidential.

Consumers have been writing to Global News for weeks complaining about long delays to have their settlement claims processed. Many said they are getting contradictory information from London, Ont.-based Ricepoint, the company in charge of administering claims.
