The Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, located east of Edmonton, will remain closed while restoration work is being done to rebuild several buildings lost to a fire in April.

RCMP said several buildings caught fire Friday at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village and evacuations occurred briefly in the surrounding rural area east of Edmonton.

The farmstead includes five structures: a house, granary, chicken coop and two barns. Three of the buildings are new to the museum, while two are from an adjacent farm in the Ukraine Cultural Heritage Village; all came from the communities of Innisfree and Amelia-Cookville.
