Police have laid charges against a Calgary woman after an alleged case of child abuse was livestreamed on the online gaming website Twitch.

At the beginning of the about 90-second clip, the woman is seen hitting and pushing a small child who interrupts her as she's playing Fortnite.

Once considered simply a rec room activity for teenagers, video gaming has become a full-fledged, multi-million dollar industry.
