Deputy Mayor Joan Stover ordered the July 18 council meeting to end after tensions flared in the gallery during discussion of revisions and expansion of a short-term rental bylaw.

The new short-term rental licensing program in Kawartha Lakes will 'soft launch' this summer and will feature demerit points for infractions such as noise complaints.
