Authorities say the blaze started just after 8 a.m. in a store on the city's iconic shopping street near the Belanger Street intersection and then spread to the apartment above.

75 firefighters were called to a 5-alarm fire in Montreal's south shore region on Monday morning. The fire started at 10:45 a.m. and was categorized a 5-alarm fire within minutes.
