Hundreds of small businesses in Alberta, and across the country, are grappling with economic uncertainty after one of the province's largest home builders was placed in receivership. 

Alvarez & Marsal Canada says in a posting on its website that it was named Thursday as receiver for insolvent ReidBuilt Homes and several subsidiaries by the Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta.

Numerous contractors and homeowners that opted to work with local builder ReidBuilt Homes are finding themselves in a tough spot financially, with liens being placed against houses in and around Edmonton.
