The Alberta government and the Fort McKay First Nation have agreed to meet again in three months to decide the fate of one of the last areas in the band's territory that hasn't been impacted by oilsands development.

The Fort McKay First Nation is suing the Alberta government over development approvals that the band says threaten sacred land the province has promised to protect.

In an announcement on its website, the AER says the 10,000-barrel-per-day steam-driven Rigel oilsands project proposed by Prosper Petroleum Ltd. of Calgary is in the public interest.
