A Leslieville parkette has been renamed in honour of Karolina Huebner-Makurat, a Toronto mother who was killed by a stray bullet last July.

Officials say a man has been rushed to hospital after a stabbing in the city's Leslieville neighbourhood early Thursday.

Construction traffic delays are impacting Leslieville businesses as workers dig up roads in the area to build new transit lines in the city.

In July, a Leslieville mother was killed by a stray bullet after a fight between three men. On Tuesday, Toronto police announced more arrests.

Toronto police said they were called to a recording studio in a mixed commercial/residential home in the Pape and Langley avenues area on Monday night for a shooting.

Investigators have given no indication that the shooting was linked to the nearby South Riverdale Community Health Centre, which houses consumption and harm reduction programs.

The event held at a park in the city's Leslieville neighbourhood honoured 44-year-old Karolina Huebner-Makurat, whom friends and family called Caroline.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford says Toronto's application to decriminalize drugs is the 'craziest thing' he's ever heard and he plans to do everything he can to fight it. 

"How many innocent people have to lose their lives before the justice system gets serious about keeping dangerous repeat offenders behind bars?" Ontario Premier Doug Ford said.
