An Edmonton-born man who became known for allegedly using a hatchet to fend off an attack on a highway worker will remain in jail for the 2013 murder of a New Jersey attorney.

Caleb "Kai" McGilvary, a Canadian man, gained online fame after he intervened in a 2012 assault on a California worker, and said he used a hatchet.
