Prime Minister Scott Morrison said Australia won't move its embassy to West Jerusalem until a peace settlement has been reached between Israel and Palestine.

Sunday's festivities are being held against the backdrop of protests over President Donald Trump's declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Trump went a step further than U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley who hinted in a tweet and a letter to most of the 193 U.N. member states on Tuesday that the U.S. would retaliate against countries that vote in favour of a General Assembly resolution calling on the president to rescind his decision.

It was not clear how Tayyip Erdogan would carry out the move, as Israel controls all of Jerusalem and calls the city its indivisible capital.

A rally was held at the Alberta legislature Sunday afternoon to protest U.S. President Donald Trump's recognition as Israel's capital. 

The Israeli military reported demonstrations in some 30 locations across the West Bank on Thursday, saying Palestinians had hurled stones and firebombs at troops.

It’s a move that no other country, save Israel, has backed.
