Justice Gerald Moir delivered his decision in Nova Scotia Supreme Court Friday afternoon, where he said he was convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that the victim did not consent to having sex with Bassam Al-Rawi.

Lesianu Zewdie Hweld, 44, of Halifax, is facing one count of sexual assault in connection with an incident that reportedly occurred this past weekend.

The alleged incident happened four years ago on May 23, 2015.

The court will be back in session on May 30th for closing submissions to Judge Ann Marie Simmons.

Al-Rawi is expected to finish his cross examination on May 23, with additional court dates set aside on May 30 and 31.

Former Halifax cab driver Bassam Al-Rawi testified for the first time in court Wednesday to defend himself against accusations that he sexually assaulted a female passenger.

The Crown called four witnesses to the stand on Tuesday as it concluded its seventh day of evidence against Bassam Al-Rawi, a former Halifax cab driver accused of sexual assault.

Bassam Al-Rawi is accused of sexually assaulting a woman who was found unconscious in the back of his taxi in May 2015, naked from the waist down and intoxicated.

It was reported that a taxi driver had allegedly sexually assaulted a female in the vehicle after driving her to a residence in Halifax. 

Owner of Lady Drive Her, Chriss McDow, says in the past week she's received an influx of calls from people wanting a female taxi driver.
