Director Mani Haghighi said in an Instagram video that he was unable to attend a screening of his film because Iranian authorities stopped him from boarding his flight in Tehran.

The award-winning Montreal-born director, with several Hollywood movies and TV shows to his credit, passed away at his cabin near Quebec City on Christmas weekend. He was 58.
