The Calgary Board of Education has approved an update to its budget to deal with provincial cutbacks and reverse the layoffs of temporary teachers.

The CBE may reverse the layoffs for over 300 teachers. At the same time, bus fees are going up for families of students in the Calgary Catholic school district.

"While we're opening up walls and changing things around, that's the ideal time to be investing in significant maintenance on the facility."

The northwest Calgary high school shut its doors Tuesday after a frozen water line caused problems.

Reducing transportation and supply fees may be only the beginning in the changes to what parents pay for their kids to go to school.
