A former Alberta RCMP officer, convicted of several offences in September, is facing a new round of charges with the province's police watchdog alleging he obstructed justice.

An officer who resigned from the Spruce Grove/Stony Plain RCMP while he was being investigated was charged Thursday with more offences, including harassment and mischief involving two women he had relationships with.

For the first time in its history, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has charged an officer with fraud or theft.
