City policy states residential neighbourhoods will only be bladed when the snow pack is above five centimetres.

“We did assess the residentials again and we’re sitting about four to 4.5 (centimetres) snow pack in residentials,” explained Bob Dunford, Director of Roadway Maintenance with the City of Edmonton. “So we’re safe at the moment. I’d like to get to them, but at this point in time I think it’ll probably be after the weekend that we’ll have to start them.”

As a result of the weather forecast, many of Edmonton Public Schools’ bus carriers are predicting delays in Friday’s yellow bus service. For up-to-date information, parents and students are asked to visit the School Bus Monitor website.

Edmonton Catholic Schools is also warning of delayed buses Friday. Information on bus schedules will be posted on the school district’s website.

The good news for the Capital Region is the temperature is expected to climb. The Global News weather team is predicting the temperature will move above zero by the weekend.
