6-year-old child walking with mother struck by vehicle in Toronto

A six-year-old child has serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Toronto. 

Toronto police said the collision occurred in the High Park Avenue and Dundas Street West area just before 4:30 p.m.

Police said a white Honda CRV was driving westbound on Dundas Street approaching High Park Avenue when the child who was walking with their mother along the sidewalk “suddenly ran into the roadway and was struck.”

Toronto paramedics said the child was taken to SickKids hospital in critical condition, with life-threatening injuries.

The driver remained at the scene following the incident, police said.

Officers said to expect road closures in the area.
