Dog stabbed to death at a Vancouver dog beach

A pitbull was stabbed to death at Kitsilano beach Wednesday afternoon.

Around 1 p.m., a 72-year-old Vancouver man was walking his pug at the beach when he was approached by a woman with a pitbull.

After a brief introduction, the pitbull bit down on the neck of the smaller dog.

When the two owners could not separate the two dogs, the owner of the pug stabbed the pitbull with a folding knife.

The pug was rushed to a veterinary hospital for stitches to its neck and animal control attended for the pitbull.

The SPCA was notified of the case by Vancouver Police and has been given the pitbull. They will be conducting an autoposy to determine if the dog suffered.

The owners are cooperating with police.

Charges are not being considered at this time.
