Teen found alive in Golden Ears Park after being missing for over two days

A 16-year-old girl was found alive and well in Golden Ears Park in Maple Ridge after missing for more than two days. The search for the teen was extensive and crews say she walked out of the wilderness on Thursday evening. – Jun 30, 2023

A missing 16-year-old girl has been found alive after she went missing Tuesday evening in Golden Ears Park in Maple Ridge, B.C.

Ridge Meadows RCMP along with search crews confirmed to Global News just after 10 p.m. the young woman walked out of the woods, safely reuniting with her family.

Dozens of volunteers from various search and rescue teams were told to stand down Thursday night, officers say the girl was found soon after.

Police told Global News, the 16-year-old is safe but is being taken to hospital as a precaution.

The girl was hiking with three of her peers on the East Canyon Trail to Steve’s Lookout as part of an organized youth activity on Tuesday.

They started around 9 a.m., left the lookout at about 2:45 p.m. and noticed that she was not with them about 15 minutes later.

Search crews are thanking their volunteers and members for aiding in the search.
