City Hall parkade set to reopen after flood repairs

The Calgary Parking Authority hopes to build three new parkades to ease the downtown parking crunch. City of Calgary

The City Hall Parkade, formerly known as the Civic Plaza Parkade, is set to reopen December 1st.

The Calgary Parking Authority says all seven levels of the underground parkade had to be completely gutted after the June flood caused extensive damage to the electrical wiring, elevators, fire system, exhaust units and the parking guidance system.

The parkade will reopen with wider parking stalls, a new ventilation system, LED lighting and a new snow melt heating system on the entry ramp.

The repairs cost more than $8 million with private insurance covering the cost.
