SASKATOON – Four fishermen pleaded guilty to a dozen charges after a two-year investigation by Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Environment.
Fines totalling $7,570 were handed out to the anglers last week in Spiritwood provincial court.
All four were convicted of angling with too many lines under the Saskatchewan Fisheries Regulations.
Saskatoon’s Cyril Brock was also convicted of over-possession of fish and exceeding the daily limit. He was fined $3,720 and given a three-year angling licence suspension.
William Tyndall and Robert Weal of Chitek Lake, Sask. pleaded guilty as well. Tyndall was fined $2,950 and given a one-year suspension.
Guy Denton of Wilkie, Sask. was fined $250 for one count of exceeding fishing line regulations.
The ministry’s investigation was launched by public tips.
