TORONTO — Canadians Bryan Adams and k.d. lang have been chosen to perform the first concerts ever in The Kingdom of Bhutan.
Bhutan, which has a population of about 750,000 people, is located at the eastern end of the Himalayas in South Asia between China and India.

The country, which has strict conditions for tourists, only lifted a ban on television in 1999.
Ontario-born Adams and Alberta-born lang will perform April 22 and 23 at the Royal Textile Academy in Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan.
Both concerts will be in front of 500 guests, including Her Majesty, The Queen Mother, Sangay Choden Wangchuck.
The shows will benefit The Bhutan Canada Foundation and RENEW Bhutan, two organizations that support education and empowerment for women and children.
