Police said officers were called to an industrial plaza on Creditstone Road, just north of Highway 7, at around 3:50 a.m. for reports of a shooting where two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds.

The 39-year-old man had no vital signs and was pronounced dead, while a second man was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition, police said.

In an update late Wednesday morning, Sgt. Clint Whitney told reporters the man is still in hospital being treated for his injuries.

“The information that we have is that at this industrial plaza there is a recording studio,” Whitney said. “And there had been some reports that the shooting was connected to some people who were at the recording studio. However, that has yet to be confirmed.”

Whitney also said that the shooting occurred outside of the building.

Although police do not have a suspect description, Whitney said there were several people in the area at the time of the shooting who “saw and/or heard what took place today that may have information that’s important to this investigation.”

Whitney said it’s too early to tell if the shooting was targeted as investigators speak to witnesses and review video.

Police are urging anyone with information or video to contact them.

A man who rents out a unit in the building told Global News the shooting near his business is very shocking as he arrived for work just after 7 a.m.

“We have today’s meetings and stuff that we have to reschedule and obviously there is a fear element as well,” Kashif Siddiqui said.
