A man in his 40s suffered serious injuries after a daylight shooting in Toronto on Tuesday.
Toronto police Duty Insp. Maher Abdel-Malik said emergency crews were called to the area of Eglinton Avenue West and Glenhaven Street, east of Keele Street, at around 12:20 p.m.
He said a man in his 40s was located with a gunshot wound to his stomach.
“He was conscious and breathing. He was transported to the hospital to be treated for his injuries,” Abdel-Malik said.
Police previously said the man suffered life-threatening injuries.
“The altercation occurred in the parking lot. It involved two individuals,” Abdel-Malik added.
He said that a firearm has been recovered and there is no threat to public safety.
A suspect reportedly fled the scene on foot. No description was provided, but Abdel-Malik said they have been identified.
“The other individual has been identified, however their information is not being released at this time. I urge that individual to contact a lawyer and turn themselves in to a police station,” Abdel-Malik said.
Anyone witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident was asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
