Montreal police have made an arrest in connection with an Amber Alert issued Tuesday afternoon.
Montreal police spokesperson Véronique Dubuc said officers were called to assist youth protection officials at 1:45 p.m. for a safety check on a baby.
Dubuc said the baby was under the care of his parents.
When officers arrived on location in Ville Émard, the father allegedly fled taking the baby with him.
At that point, Dubuc said the major crimes unit took over the investigation and an Amber Alert was issued at 5 p.m.

“Authorities had reason to fear for the baby’s health and safety,” she said.
Both the father and child were located 10 minutes after the alert was issued at the home of a family acquaintance.
Although the baby appeared unharmed, Dubuc said he was taken to hospital as a precaution.
The father was arrested and taken to a detention centre for questioning.
