Man seriously injured in drive-by shooting outside Surrey home

A man is in the hospital with serious injuries after a drive-by shooting outside a home in Surrey, B.C., Friday morning.

Video obtained by Global News shows a man walking outside as a white SUV pulls up in front a house and comes to a stop. Rapid gunfire can be heard as the man flees from the vehicle.

Loud screams follow as the man runs onto the driveway of the home. Someone who appears to be an assailant, dressed in black, then exits the vehicle as the man runs behind the house.

More gunshots and screaming follow before the man in black returns to the SUV, which drives away.

In a news release, Surrey RCMP said the shooting took place on 144A Street near 82A Avenue in the Bear Creek area. They found the victim shortly after 8 a.m. and treated him until paramedics arrived.

About half an hour later, Surrey RCMP said they found a vehicle ablaze at 125A Street and Colebrook Road that matched a description to the suspect vehicle seen fleeing the area of the shooting.

“However further investigation is required to link the two incidents,” police said.

RCMP believe the shooting was targeted, although the motive remains unclear. Police say anyone with information or video from the area can contact them at 604-599-0502.
