13-year-old girl from Vaughan found safe after going missing

York Regional Police say a 13-year-old girl who had gone missing after leaving her home in Vaughan on Tuesday has been found.

Police said the teen had gone missing Tuesday afternoon from her home near Autumn Hill Boulevard and Thornhill Woods Drive and that her family had not spoken to her.

A command post was set up on Bathurst Street where investigators conducted a search for her on Wednesday morning.

In an update just after noon on Wednesday, police said she had been found safely “as a result of a tip from a member of the community.”

Police had also referenced the Amber Alert system and said, “there is no evidence that this was an abduction.”
