Two men in were in a single-vehicle collision Thursday night in northeast Calgary.
At around 6:30 p.m., a large equipment truck rolled at an off-ramp at Deerfoot Trail and Stoney Trail N.E.
The Calgary Police Service believes the vehicle, a Western Star Conventional dump truck, was travelling on the ramp from northbound Deerfoot Trail to eastbound Stoney Trail N.E. when the driver “failed to negotiate a curve” and lost control of the truck. It rolled over and came to rest on the embankment on the south side of the road.

Speed is being investigated as a factor, but alcohol and drugs are not being considered as factors right now.
Police and EMS told Global News one man – the 24-year-old driver – was pronounced dead. The other man, 32, was transported to hospital in serious but stable condition.
Just before 8 p.m., Calgary police were asking the public to avoid the intersection of Deerfoot Trail and Stoney Trail in the city’s northeast due to a collision.
The offramp from northbound Deerfoot Trail N.E. to eastbound Stoney Trail N.E. was closed until just after midnight.
