TORONTO – Mayor Rob Ford is expected to get an earful at Toronto City Hall today as councillors discuss a motion for him to step aside.

The move comes a week after Ford admitted to having smoked crack cocaine in a “drunken stupor” and following therelease of court documents related to the arrest of his friend and occasional driver, Alexander “Sandro” Lisi, revealing the mayor exchanging packages and under surveillance by police for months.

There’s word Ontario’s Liberal government will introduce legislation to ban the sale of candy-flavoured tobacco products to people under age 18.

Thousands of people stormed a rice warehouse on an island devastated by Typhoon Haiyan, authorities said Wednesday, highlighting the urgent need to get water, food and medical supplies into an increasingly desperate region.

A new study shows that non-mortgage debt is continuing to rise in Canada, but at a relatively modest pace, and that low delinquency rates indicate Canadians have so far been able to handle the increase.
