UPDATE: RCMP say a man has died after suffering cardiac arrest during an apartment fire in Langley Saturday night.
Emergency crews say the man barricaded himself in a closet in his first story apartment after the fire erupted.
It’s unknown whether the man has mental health issues or not. It’s alleged that the man set the fire himself – but police and fire are still investigating.
None of the other suites in the building on 204th Street near 54th Avenue were harmed by the fire, but residents are upset that the man put them at risk.
Darlene Heidemann reports (note: this report was filed before RCMP confirmed the fatality.)
