Winnipeg honours veterans

WINNIPEG – Multiple locations will host Remembrance Day ceremonies Monday as the city marks the sombre holiday.

Global Winnipeg live streamed the service from the HMCS Chippawa Naval Museum of Manitoba at 10 a.m.

Many businesses and services will operate on holiday hours on Monday and non-essential businesses are not allowed to open before 1 p.m.

Remembrance Day services and events:

HMCS Chippewa Naval Museum of Manitoba, 1 Navy Way, 10:15 a.m.

Winnipeg Convention Centre, doors open at 9:30 a.m., annual Join Veterans Association of Manitoba and Canadian Forces ceremony. Public asked to be seated by 10 a.m.; service starts at 10:15 a.m.

There will also be a blood donor clinic in honour of veterans at the convention centre from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Western Canadian Aviation Museum (Hangar T-2, 958 Ferry Rd. at Ellice Avenue) activities, 1-5 p.m., Triumph and Sacrifice tour at 2 p.m.

Valour Road and Royal Canadian Legion Branch 1 (626 Sargent Ave.), service at Valour Road at 10:30 a.m., service at 11 a.m. at Cenotaph at Branch

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 2 (1613 Logan Ave.), 11:00 a.m., seating at 10:45 a.m., lunch served downstairs after service

Bruce Park and St. James Royal Canadian Legion Branch 4 (1755 Portage Ave.), 10:40 a.m. Parade starts at Assiniboine Hotel at 10:40 a.m. Service at Bruce Park Cenotaph and parade back to branch with inside program to follow

Transcona Royal Canadian Legion Branch 7 (117 Regent Ave. E), parade at 10:30 a.m., service at 11:00 a.m.

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 9 (920 Nairn Ave.), 10:50 a.m.

West Kildonan Royal Canadian Legion Branch 30 (1748 Main St.), 10:55 a.m., doors open at 10:30 a.m.

St. Phillips Church and Norwood Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43 (240 Tache Ave.), 11 a.m., parade leaves  at 10:30 a.m.

Alphonsus Parish Hall (341 Munroe Ave.), 10:45 a.m., doors open at 10:00 a.m. Lunch will be served at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 81 (300 Trent Ave.) after the service.

Fort Garry Royal Canadian Legion Branch 90 (1125 Pembina Hwy.), 10:45 a.m., must arrive before 10:30 a.m. as door will be closed.

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 117 (376 Salter St.), 10:30 a.m.

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 141 (618 Selkirk Ave.), 12:30 p.m.

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 215 (3400 DeVries Ave.), 10:30 a.m., limited seating. Light lunch and reception after service.
