Toronto Morning: What you need to know today

TORONTO – The majority of Torontonians think Mayor Rob Ford should take a leave of absence and go into rehab after admitting he has smoked crack cocaine in the past, according to a poll released by Forum Research.

If Ford goes to rehab, the mayor would win the next municipal election with 32 per cent to 28 per cent for Olivia Chow, 21 per cent for John Tory, 12 per cent for Karen Stintz and three per cent for David Soknacki.

“It is clear that the mayor has a viable political future, but only if he goes to rehab,” said Dr. Lorne Bozinoff , Forum Research president.

The mayor’s approval rating remains nearly unchanged at 44 per cent.
