Highway 401 reopens after fuel spills from jackknifed truck near London, Ont.

The London Fire Department said a portion of Highway 401 was closed following a “significant fuel spill” near London, Ont., over the weekend.

In a tweet posted at 12:54 p.m. Sunday, fire officials said the highway’s westbound lanes were closed between Highbury Avenue and Veterans Memorial Parkway.

The closure was due to a fuel spill from a jackknifed tractor trailer carrying fuel.

Fire officials said that the Ministry of the Environment had been contacted.
