Valley Line LRT train and car collide in south Edmonton

The new Valley Line LRT is a new style of transit in Edmonton and drivers are going to have to get used to no crossing arms and obeying signs to not turn right on red lights. As Lisa MacGregor reports, there will be some growing pains - as was evident after a collision this past weekend. – Jan 23, 2023

Edmonton’s LRT Valley Line and a car collided Saturday afternoon right outside Bonnie Doon Centre mall at 82 Avenue and 83 Street.

As signage indicates, right turns are not allowed on reds at some intersections.

EMS was on scene and transported the male passenger of the vehicle to hospital as precaution, police said. There does not appear to be any injuries to either driver of the LRT or vehicle.

The Valley Line is currently a test line for a new route to the south. There were no passengers on board.
