The second victim was taken to hospital in critical condition with multiple gunshot injuries. Police confirmed at 9:45 a.m. that she died in hospital.

In their update, police also said the two victims were family. Their deaths are being treated as a double homicide.

No arrests have been made and police say they currently have no suspects.

“So far, we don’t have any suspects apprehended so we don’t know the reason why this event occurred. We don’t know why and we don’t know who did this double murder,” police spokesperson Mariane Allaire Morin said.

Police say the women’s deaths are the city’s 37th and 38th homicides of the year.
