WATCH: Best of The Ohio State University marching band tributes

The Ohio State University Buckeyes are one of the top college football programs in the United States.

But recently, the school’s marching band has been drawing as much attention for its on-field performances as the team itself.

Colloquially known as the “Best Damn Band in the Land,” the Ohio State Marching Band is one of the oldest college marching bands in the country, formed in 1878.

The band’s creative musical tributes have exploded into viral video sensations.

In the performance above, the band tips its hat to classic science fiction with spaceships, dancing aliens, and a recreation of Doc Brown’s time-travelling DeLorean from the movie “Back to the Future”.

Below, we’ve gathered some more of the band’s best offerings for your viewing pleasure.

Hollywood Blockbusters

It’s a bird, it’s a plane – actually, it’s the Ohio State Marching band. From Superman to Lord of the Rings to Harry Potter, a veritable smorgasbord of memorable movie moments is recreated by the band in this creative tribute.

Michael Jackson

The biggest thriller in this one is the band’s recreation of a massive MJ, moonwalking his way down the field.

Video games

From Tetris to Space Invaders to Super Mario, this tribute to classic video games sets a new high score.

The Beatles

The band certainly didn’t need any Help! with this creative tribute to the Fab Four.

From Mickey Mouse to the Little Mermaid, the band offers a tip of the hat to some children’s movies.
