Brampton Fire says a person who was taken to hospital in critical condition after a fire at a seniors residence early Thursday has now died.
Fire officials said on Thursday at around 2:30 a.m. they were dealing with a residential high-rise fire in the area of Queen Street and McMurchy Avenue.
Brampton Fire chief Bill Boyes said the fire was on the first floor and crews were met with smoke and flames.
He said firefighters found a man inside who was then transported by paramedics to hospital with critical injuries.
Boyes confirmed that the person died in hospital hours later from their injuries.
“Sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the resident who passed away this morning,” Boyes said.
