Calgary police investigate serious hit and run in Forest Lawn

A pedestrian was involved in a serious hit and run Thursday evening in the community of Forest Lawn according to Calgary police.

Police said a 27-year-old woman was crossing 17 Avenue S.E. northbound when a dark-coloured sedan traveling westbound on the same road approached the intersection at 44 Street S.E. and struck the woman just before 8 p.m.

The woman was rushed to Foothills Medical Centre. Police originally told Global News she had died but later clarified that she remains in life-threatening condition in a news release sent at 10:34 a.m. Friday.

The vehicle did not stay at the scene and police are now on the hunt for a dark-coloured sedan involved in the hit and run. Police added the sedan likely has front-end damage on the passenger side and was  last seen driving westbound on 17 Avenue S.E.

The victim was taken to Foothills Medical Centre, where she later was pronounced dead.
